Young Ohio woman killed in two-car collision

On Behalf of | Oct 1, 2013 | Car Accidents |

A young woman lost her life in a two-car collision at about 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 near Sherrodsville. The victim was the fifth accident fatality in Tuscarawas County so far this year. Two others were injured in the same accident.

The Ohio State Patrol said a 38-year-old Uhrichsville woman was traveling westbound on State Highway 39 near Crum Road when her 1999 Chevrolet Malibu crossed the center line into the eastbound lanes while going around a downhill curve. The Malibu collided almost head-on with a 2003 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 23-year-old Sherrodsville man who was on his way home from work after stopping to pick up his passenger, a 19-year-old New Philadelphia woman. The Malibu’s front end was heavily damaged, as was the passenger side of the Sonata.

The driver of the Sonata was transported to Aultman Hospital in Canton by ambulance while the Malibu driver was airlifted by helicopter to Akron City Hospital. Fire rescue personnel had to remove the deceased woman from the car. The highway was closed for about three hours. Troopers are investigating the accident and indicated that they will be reporting results to the prosecutor’s office.

A car accident is a life-changing event. Victims injured through another driver’s negligence may be eligible for financial compensation, including reimbursement for medical expenses and lost income, while surviving family members of a deceased victim may be able to file a wrongful death claim. A personal injury attorney could help victims or their survivors pursue this compensation by filing claim documents with the appropriate insurance companies.
